Mark,

I would use the switch to actuate the coil of the relay (pop the plastic
cap on one and start cutting).  Don't run the current needed to run the 
glow plugs through the switch, as you'll have to deal with BIG wire,
and you'll destroy the switch.  

If you modify the relay, you don't have to do any glow plug circuit 
changes to the car.
