[Vwdiesel] cleaning crusty parts

I have a large collection of volksbolts and small parts from part-outs that
are dusty, rusty, crusty, and just plain filthy.

I'm thinking some kind of little ball mill or abrasive tumbler might be a
good thing for renovating some of this, saving hours at the wire brush
wheel. (don't have a sandblaster, and any way , a barrel mill could work
away while I'm doing something else)

To reduce "re-inventing", has anyone done this, and what tips on size and
type of drum, what kind of abrasives, etc, might work.

What about Naval Jelly? (fermented belly button lint?)
