[Vwdiesel] Coolant "cavity" in head?

My TD head appears to have not flossed regularly... there is what looks 
like decay one the edge of one of the coolant passages getting near the 
cylinder - just touching the edge of the metal ring.

Should I try to fill this with JB weld to slow down the decay?
