[Vwdiesel] Gasser pulley to diesel sprocket- ( the Valve train )

 If the tapered diesel cam stud,  most outward, smallest dimension is
the same as the gasser parallel,  could the sprocket have a taper
milled/cut into it without jeopardizing the integrity of the sprocket?

Gasser cam has a parallel stud for its woodruffed sprocket; whilst
diesel has the tapered fitting...
