[Vwdiesel] New engineJames Hansen jhsg at sasktel.netSun Apr 17 02:51:48 EDT 2005
Well that's pretty cool Justin. I've seen this type of thing built from turbochargers, really impressive sound when they spool up, but never heard or thought of a roots blower based design. Wow. I can't begin to imagine the noise of three roots blowers in full song... -James -----Original Message----- From: vwdiesel-bounces at vwfans.com [mailto:vwdiesel-bounces at vwfans.com]On Behalf Of Justin and Chelly Bennett Sent: Saturday, April 16, 2005 11:10 AM To: vwdiesel at vwfans.com Subject: Re: [Vwdiesel] New engine I know a guy in Washington that has already done this. He built several of these while in engineering school. The company he works for used a modified design version of this as the starter for the F-16. My friend used roots blowers. He even built one that had one blower for the compressor section and two for the turbine section. He used chains to connect the sections together and could vary the ratios that way.
