any relation between the starter, the (water pump?) and the alternator 
symptoms ??


  Could be.  If the starter was self engaging then it'd sure make a noise 
if the engine was alrready running.  Starter running would load the alt. 
which could easily be enough to make the belt squeal. 
  Running away/on though... Did it gain speed or just keep running?  
If it just kept running then maybe power was feeding back through 
the start circuit to power up the stop solenoid.  Sounds like a crossed 
wire, sticking relay or such, powering up the starter solenoid.  Test light 
time!
