[Vwdiesel] Hard startingLibbybapa@wmconnect.com Libbybapa at wmconnect.comMon Aug 8 09:53:57 EDT 2005
My friend's '84 Quantum TD still seems to have a bit of a hard time starting when the engine is cold. The starter cranks fine. The battery is brand spankin' new 900 cca. The timing on the pump is right on. There are no bubbles in the "clear" line. The fuel filter is new. The glow plugs all glow brightly. Compression is close to 400 on all four. Fresh injectors. Anything I'm missing? (Other than the holy water?) It starts, just takes several seconds of cranking at 50°F and then blows a good cloud. For comparison, my TD vanagon starts instantly at 15°F.
