[Vwdiesel] Water separator (?) leak !Mike & Coreen Smith ve9aa at nbnet.nb.caWed Aug 24 05:12:28 EDT 2005
Does the cap actually attach to the valve stem or whatevers' up inside this separator box? Is this what's broken? (Sorry, no time to inspect, as diesel was flowing everywhere !!) Or is the cap just a looser fit than it used to be? (from a mechanics BFH blow to it recently) Ie: if I was just to put some teflon tape around what's left of the threads for the cap, would that be OK, or ? My '86 jetta had the water seperator integral to the fuel filter in the engine compartment. My vanagon has a similar water seperator/fuel filter, but screws onto a housing like the rabbits and quantums. As Hayden said, removal of the offending item and splicing in of hose would be a good solution. I would make sure that there was a seperator somewhere in the system though. Andrew
