[Vwdiesel] wipers and blower intermittent

hmmm..  I haven't delved too deeply into the Bentley (that what happens
when you've got a month of company), but the 1981 truck sat for a month,
in mildly humid weather, and now the heater blower and the windshield
wipers work intermittently!

They work or don't work at the same time.  Hmmm.. common ground?  common
feed? Nothing else seems to be affected.  

Just by chance, has this happened to anyone, so I can shine up some
particular connections and get it working again?

when power is on, the switches are fine, the motors are fine.

I've shined up the ground terminals on the battery and chassis
connections, wiggled lots of wires, and sprayed contact cleaner where I
can reach.

Any bets on where the culprit is?
