Hi Dave...

The Psst from the water res cap is a sure sign of gasket
blown. It could be cracked head also but less likeely with
careful POs.
It must be a minor leak else it would push all water out in
a mile or so.
Thus HEADGASKETS DO LEAK....
No sealer... can effectively create hydraulic pockets
bridging across to coolant etc again.
