[Vwdiesel] Shift light? & parts car

I've already had the reverse light switch apart in 1,000,000 pieces and got
it to work intermittently enough to (erhummm) <clears throat>.........pass
inspection (MVI/MOT/DMV check).  It's still very flakey.
When I got the car, reverse lights were on 100% of the time, now they just
'flicker' on......sometimes.......just as you put it into reverse.

The silly shift light always goes out when you shift, only to come back on 5
seconds later (when accelerating hard)

I have a line on another switch <for free>,on my old tranny... so I will
look into that one.

My bro-in-law and nephew have a 88/91/92 gasser turned diesel FrankenJetta
with my old diesel 1.6L TD still in it they are keeping for a parts car.
(nephew rolled it over on its roof a couple months ago.)  I'm allowed to
scavenge it for parts...........however I can't take anything that would
prevent it from moving/running/stopping, as nephew wants to run it through
the woods and totally destroy it in the spring.  A common activity for that
side of the family. (SIGH!)

I need a bunch of little stuff, (switches, mirrors, windshield wiper parts,
door handles, hubcaps, etc. etc.) so may go out in a week or two with some
wrenches and a big box !
