Brazing works on cast iron, not sure if you can get block hot enough: must be dull red. Grind deep bevels on both parts, creating a groove when parts are positioned for joining.  Lots-O-flux & heat iron till brass sticks to iron & flows to fill groove. Surpiizingly strong. WAY better than JB. Have extinguisher handy. Good luck.
