The cone is the major part inside the LDA (spaceship).  It is what meters the 
additional fuel under boost.  I imagine the spring perch is the height at 
which the spring holds the cone when not under boost.  If that were lowered it 
would allow the aneroid to dump more fuel sooner.  On my TD I found that I could 
increase fuel above its current settings, without significant smoke or 
dangerous EGT's, but economy dropped off fairly quickly, especially considering it 
was much harder to keep my foot off it. :-)  I've opted for economy, but with 
what I think is reasonable performance.
