Yes, twas I.  I've come to notice that it is quite a bit more prevalent when
the engine is cold.  Like the first 5-10kms or so, you really have to baby
it, and shift early.  Once temp guage is reading about mid-scale, it seems
to be "normal"....whatever that is.....Like my old 88 Jetta anyways, so I
presume it's normal.

I know you cannot rev a diesel like a gas engine, but when it's cold, you
really REALLY can't rev it at all.

  Mike, were you the one who was saying that power drops off pretty well in
higher RPM's?  Did you remove the dead mice from the intake runners?  Bad
