I don't know if this is an "old wives tale", but I
think I read somewhere that the additives in GL-5
attack the (bronze???) synchronizers in the tranny????

The Redline MT90 (75W-90) and MTL (70W-80) have been the best oils that I have found in all of the manual trannys that I have used them in (VW, Honda, Ford Festiva, MG, Chevy, Lotus, Pinzgauer, Unimog so far).
