[Vwdiesel] dished pistonsJames Hansen jhsg at sasktel.netThu Aug 28 22:28:34 PDT 2008
depends what you are trying to accomplish. dished piston will decrease the compression ratio. Considering this is a motor with a precombustion chamber, any compressed air outside the precup is sort of wasted. You can use different pistons to alter the compression lower, and safely run higher boost pressures by lowering peak cylinder pressure, but you sort of have to plan this pretty carefully, just like selecting a piston dome shape and pin height on a chevy. Don't want to go below 18.5:1 or starting reliability suffers in a diesel. -james adamo robison wrote: > would a piston with indents increase displacement but lower compression. also affect combustion and flow in chamber? > thanks > _________________________________________________________________ > Get ideas on sharing photos from people like you.
