[Vwdiesel] OT: Engine Rebuild QuestionLBaird119 at aol.com LBaird119 at aol.comMon Feb 2 18:16:20 PST 2009
Usually rod bearings are the first to go. No oil and they'll go in short order due to the loading and speed (= heat). I'd pull the pan and check rod bearings. You may have a galled piston but those usually happen from overheating before low oil. You might get lucky and just need bearings, a little worse would need rings. More and you're doing a rebild. Had one come into the dealer similarly. Holed pan. Just needed bearings and it was happy! (This was a 1.? Rabbit engine but basically the same thing. Loren ************** Great Deals on Dell Laptops.
