With the no start issue did you take the bus bar off the glow plugs to check if all the plugs are working. You may have power to them but that doesn't do any good if it doesn't go through the plugs. It sucks to do get the bar off and is even worse when it is cold (and have large hands) but that is the only way to tell if the plugs are working. Since you can smell the diesel and I assume the white smoke then from the fuel boiling and not burning that is what I would say. Is there white smoke. I wouldn't say the exhaust would be so bent as it wouldn't run as that would have happen right after same for fuel lines. And if it got fuel the day before then it still should be getting fuel. But glow plugs can burn out as mine did this summer and unless you have a warm engine or a warm day (old diesels, about 60 degrees is the lowest I could start mine as the morning it wouldn't start and night it would) it won't start.
