I can't check anything out, though.  If I did, I'd take the body of that 
one and put in my 1.6TD engine.  Got a third of the mileage of mine.  
300,000+ miles really starts to show after a while.

I agree with the original post.  I have a 2000 TDI and I love the engine 
and the working a/c, but I still love the handling of my completely worn 
out '85 better.  Probably even more so if I ever finish rebuilding the 
front end.  Every bushing in it is completely destroyed.  Only time of 
year I have spare time, it's 100+ºF  :(
