[Vwdiesel] OK....Who drives around without a timing belt cover

Uh, it's a bad idea, but I've been driving without a cover at all on the
diesel Westy for a couple years..  (and without the diaper pan too!)
Rumor has someone drove over a plastic shopping bag and it was swept up
into the timing belt causing bad things..

On the other had, the old metal timing belt over (open on ip side)
allowd a bolt to fall in and get trapped in the old-style 2-piece lower
cover.  Just trimmed a little off the belt - still ran great for a
couple months (I know, I know, but I had to do the front seals too and
it was COLD out!)

Will in Alaska.
