4000 rod knock Vs vacuum pump

I remember this thread from several months back. I have a buddy who is
hearing some knock type noises in his 1985 4000 csq, 185,000 miles. Could
someone forward me pertinent copies of posts detailing resolution, that I
can forward to him? Thanks.
