[Vwdiesel] Lapping to crapping in two moves...

I'm seeing this issue too, Mark. I'm not sure you
can avoid it with out a work-around. I explain what
I think is happening. Skip to the end for a quick fix.

It looks to me that the "reply-to" option is not set at
the mail list server. The "reply-to" option is controlled
by the mailing list administrator. (I don't know who he
(or she) is).

If the mailing list server were configured to set the "reply-to"
field as "vwdiesel at vwfans.com", follow up messages would be
addressed automatically to vwdiesel, and replies would stay
"on topic" (followed up).

My mailer is not getting a "reply-to" command from the list
server. My replies get sent to the poster, not to the list.

I am using Netscape. Outlook folks may see this too, I don't

For Mark and others, here's a workaround...

1. Use the "reply to everyone" or "reply-all" option of your
     mail program.

2. Leave the "vwdiesel at vwfans.com" address in the "to:" or
"Mail recipients" box. Delete any other other addresses
     you see.

3. Re-check to be sure that "vwdiesel at vwfans.com" is the
only name in to "to" box. Change "cc:" or "bcc:" to
     "to:" if necessary.

4. Type in your reply.

5. When you're done, hit "send".

Your reply should go directly to the mailing list. It
should show up as a reply to the original topic.

Someone who has outlook can explain outlook's commands
better than I can. I use netscape.

To summarize, changing the listserv to add a "reply-to"
instriction for "vwdiesel at vwfans.com" would improve an
already excellent discussion list. I hope my comments
will help others use this (great!) list more easily.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled topic.

(P.S. Miss Manners frowns on "hijacking". She loves
  new topics :-)
