[Vwdiesel] Exxon to increase diesel capacity

Tue Dec 16 07:14:22 PST 2008

 From the Dallas Morning News:

"Exxon Mobil Corp. will announce $1 billion in upgrades to three
refineries today, including the Baytown, Texas facility, that will
boost the companies total diesel capacity by 10%. The Irving (Texas)
based oil giant will add equipment to its refineries in Baytown, Baton
Rouge. L.; and Antwerp, Belgum...Exxon's own diesel forecasts are
conservative: Demand in the US will rise 3 percent annually. The
company will not cut its capacity to make gasoline at the three
refineries, but it will reduce heating oil capacity..."

Rest of the article basically covers the current economic conditions
of refining. Right now, refineries are breaking even on gasoline but
that diesel is still making them money as demand has risen almost
every month this year. Increased capacity will be good news to us in
the long run. Hayden
