What year Audi did I see?

Friends,

I was travelling home on the freeway the other day, and alongside 
pulled a 100 (or 200).  I was rather surprised to see that it has the 
older 5000 body style, but the fenders were flared (ala V8).

What year was this style produced?  I assume it was just previous to 
the new 100 body style.

I thought it looked rather sharp for an update on the old body.
