Temp Guage Ailment/Cooling Fan

My 87 5KCSTQ temp guage does lays dead most of the time.  Any known failure
areas?  I tried retrieving the archive for it and couldn't get it.  If anyone
has that, please forward it to me.

Can someone explain the after-run cooling sequence?  My normal cooling does
just fine, and the additional A/C cooling too.  My after-run doesn't - except
at odd times when the car is dead cold.
