$750 for a starter motor?! Gee, I remember buying a starter for my 73 Corvette
and and having to shell out about 30 bucks, then having the fun of lying on my
back putting the damn thing in. Didn't realize just how much fun I was actually
having. 
Sorry to hear about your V8. You haven't done anything recently to make the
Audi gods angry have you? Also, I would call around and get some other prices
on parts etc from someone else besides the dealer. Seems they may be taking you
for a little ride. 
Sorry I can't offer any technical support on this one (I have a 20V) just
moral.....Good luck!
