Thanks to all who responded privately and publicly on this. Sounds like a new bomb is in 
my future.  In the meantime -- off to New England skiing [with a full can of hydraulic 
fluid just in case.] If you see my gold 5KCSQW with a huge Thule box on top -- honk and
