I forgot to mention one more possible cause for the brake light to come on - a dying bomb. BTW, this light is the SAME as for the parking brake. Start the car, let it idle for a minute. Shut the car off. Repeatedly depress brake pedal until the assist is gone and the pedal becoms hard as a rock. Less than 30 pumps?
