[Author Prev][Author Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Author Index][Thread Index] I'm back
Hello List, I was off the list for over a week, catched a flu and had to stay at home which left me without internet access and without Audiing, but, on a positive note, without the need to go to work as well ;-) Anyway, this Tuesday I went to the bookstore and bought the Chilton's automatic transmission rebuilding manual. It has detailed description of rebuilding VW/Audi 089 transmission (which, as I've been informed, is very similar to the 087 used in my 5KT) as well as MJ3 tranny used in mom's Renault, so for $45 it's a good buy. After staying in the garage for a week my 5K left a quite large ATF puddle on the floor, so guess I'll be removing and resealing the transmission soon. In fact, the book costed me PLN50 more and 6 penalty points on my licence, cause desperately trying to find a parking place in downtown Warsaw during rush hours, I found it convenient to make an illegal U-turn and... you know the rest. Really, stupid law we have here. I did not cause ANY danger by this maneuver, there was no oncoming traffic and the cop was probably the only one who ever noticed what I did. Yet friggin' 6 points. Like I almost killed someone or what. FYI, driving without headlights at night (!!!) is 4 points and backing off on a highway (potentially lethal) is only 3. Show me a logic here, cause I can't see any. Ahh, never mind, just venting. I also replaced the fuel pump using Mike Arman's writeup I saved from previous discussions as a guide (thanks Mike!). The job was much easier than I expected and the replacement Bosch pump is so quiet one can barely hear the noise even outside the car. So, if you need YAFPRP (Yet Another Fuel Pump Replacement Procedure), e-mail me privately. That's all for now, it feels good to be on the q-list again.
