Re: Why use Amsoil insead of Mobil 1?

You may want to re-check your sources...
A quote from the Mobil 1 data-sheet for passenger cars:
"The Mobil 1 Series motor oils are blends of synthesized hydrocarbon fluids
(SHF's) and esters derived from petrochemicals. While they appear chemically
mineral oils refined from crude, they are pure chemicals which do not contain
the impurities or waxes inherent in conventional mineral oils."
AFAIK the best "price no object" synthetic is Redline. Personally I go with
Mobil 1 15/50 cuz it is (relatively) cheap and easy to find (i.e. ~22 bux a
six pack at K-mart).
Not to fan the flames of any synth vs. dyno debates again (please!!!)...
Seems to me with the new "synthetic blends" available (Castrol, Valvoline,
Penzoil, etc.) that the so-called "100% synthetics" had best be just that.
